The visitation dream from a deceased loved who has “crossed over” is a unique type of dream. These dreams are not a product of the ego psyche subconscious (what Jung and others might call the personal unconscious) but are actual appearances in our dreams of the very real presence of the departed person. These dream experiences are almost always characterized by a pronounced vividness, what is termed lucidity, and a sense of aliveness and energy not usually found in “normal” dreams. I do not find extensive discussion about them in dream literature, although they can be mentioned.
One of the more unusual aspects of these dreams is, although the loved one is not a projection of the personal subconscious, they have a mysterious ability to use the elements of the dreamer’s subconscious to create and arrange themselves, symbols, scenes and narrative to give or reinforce messages.
“A woman dreamed of her father. He was sitting on a bench at a bus stop. He was dressed in a short sleeve shirt as for a summer day and his arms were in a relaxed manner, spread out in each direction over the top of the bench. His legs were casually crossed and he was leaning back, as men often do when at ease.
This perplexed the woman but I suggested the reason he took this pose was his message that he was quite OK, relaxed, at ease, enjoying the other side, and the fact that he was at a bus stop might indicate he was in a pause in his journey on the other side, taking time to visit her.
But at the time Imissed the deeper impications of the bus stop. All important symbols need to be fully looked at. It was not a bus terminal, a bus on a country trip, a bus traveling to another location or a tourist bus in a foreign land. It was a city bus. Here is where dream dictionaries can be helpful but one must verify the connection of the propsed meanimg with the dreamer. Buses can stand for the collective or mass conscious. City buses often are crowded, uncomfiortable, and can be unpleasant. The question I now believe her father was projecting to her was “where is your life now in relationship to the mass consciousness, where do you want it to be”? Since she was at an holistic lecture, this at the time would have been a highly appropriate questiion to ask, to encourage her to ecplore more deeply this relationship and issue.
Here is a visitation dream with far greater consequences. I was on Facebook when a woman posted the following.
“My father passed away in 2014, I never dreamt about him unit 2 months ago. In the dream he was young and beautiful, (26 years old). The only thing is he told me how many years I am going to live. I didn’t want to hear that… not sure what it means, or he gave me exactly how many years I have to truly start living?
I wrote back, “I will go out on a limb and say your father appeared so young because he wanted to emphasize to you to seize the vitality of life ((as expressed in youthfulness) now. I think the the time of years is symbolic.” Our loved ones rarely give us fearful information unless it is truly urgent.
I then suggested she use a technique to get more information from him due to the profound interconnectedness we all share and to write down anything she got. What she wrote stunned me.
As soon as I finished reading your comment in regard to paper, etc (writing down thoughts and impressions that came to her from a technique I shared), a paper towel fell down on the floor, so I said “OK Daddy, I will write on paper.” I focused on the image of him in my dream. He reeally wants me to have fun and enjoy life to the fullest. (why appearing at a young age as Ken intuited). To feel that deep self love and to get a partner. He said that he is taking care of Nicole, my daughter who had passed away two and a half years ago.
He said have fun,in my business I will succeed, and will help people to heal. People will be waiting to see you. The number 26 is symbolic. I was 26 when you came to this earth. Always be a child, never change, and do everything with love and peace. Learn to Astral travel so you can communicate with Nicole (my daughter) and also me in mediations. Omg I am crying, who are we ?”
This dream had profound implications. One of the great problems people have is taking dreams too literally. I will post on this. This can cause confusion at least, real harm at worst. As we see, this was a message of joy and love but without my help or the help of someone really skilled intuitively, she might have lived in confusion or even dread for years.
Many of these visitation dreams are quite clear and direct, but many are not and leave the dreamer disoriented and not understanding the message. We can ask all day long “Why do dreams appear like this? Why can’t they just be direct?”. The answer is ” because that’s the way they are, whether we like it or not”.
